17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. 18 I am not speaking of all of you; I know whom I have chosen. But the Scripture will be fulfilled, ‘He who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me.’ 19 I am telling you this now, before it takes place, that when it does take place you may believe that I am he. 20 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.” (John 13:17-20 ESV)
Focus on the phrase at the end of verse 18, “But the Scripture will be fulfilled….” As you meditate on that phrase, ask yourself: what are you still waiting to see fulfilled to believe in God’s word and do what it says?
This is hard!
To live believing in God's Word and doing what it says in this day... You have the odds stacked against you. But the truth is that I’d rather wrestle with the difficulty of applying God's word to my life than live without God’s blessing in my life. The reason being that without God’s blessing, our lives cannot be even a dim reflection of what God created us for.
We were chosen by Jesus to receive him and therefore God, the Father. We are filled by the Holy Spirit to apply the truth of God to our lives. We should make the choice to live believing that the truth of God in the Bible is fulfilled through Jesus and apply his word to our lives daily.
Pray that you will encounter and experience the spiritual blessings promised by God to all who live by his Word.
